In this video I explain how I plan on turning the plasticine/Bondo sculpt into a Plaster of Paris cast. After Bondo-ing the initial sculpt, I realized too late that I could have probably skipped the Bondo step altogether, so I considered shaping the Bondo shell itself. However, this would undoubtedly result in an endless cycle of sanding and Bondo-ing given how thin the shell is. So, instead, I chose to create a silicone mold of the plasticine/Bondo sculpt to cast the helmet in Plaster of Paris, thus exploring a new technique that I haven't fully attempted before.
The next video explains how I used Rebound 25 silicone to create a female mold for plaster casting.
The next video shows how I created a rigid support shell (mother mold) using Plasti Paste II to ensure that the plaster that will be poured into the silicone mold maintains shape while curing.
In the next video, I document Plasti Paste II demolding, and the removal of the initial sculpt from the silicone "skin".
