(2015/03/04 UPDATE: Project has now been completed. This section of the website will be updates shortly)
I have a nephew who is just getting introduced to Star Wars; what better way to discover the awesomeness of the original trilogy than to watch the Blu-rays, while swinging a lightsaber AND wearing a Stormtrooper Helmet! (Yes, a stormtrooper with a lightsaber….)
So, I've taken it upon myself to build a child-size Stormtrooper helmet. The trick will be to make it as movie-accurate as possible while maintaining proportion, and keeping it 2/3rds-ish of the original size!
Even though I have done a great deal of research on the subject of mold-making, I am still relatively new at all this, so every new technique I employ, every step I take carries with it a certain degree of uncertainty.
Ultimately, no matter how much you think you know, there is always the potential for unrecoverable errors along the way. Trial and error is a huge part of the process, which also increases the chance that something may go wrong. As this is my very first attempt at a full helmet, I have a feeling the process will be long and bitter sweet!
I will continue to update this section as the project moves along!
