orivod (The Older Brother)

Helmet backstory:

“This was my older brother’s helmet. Din Djarin returned it to me after ori’vod fell in battle. Some say he died a hero, others that it was all Din’s fault and that guilt drove him to bring the helmet back to me. I don’t know the truth of it, I was too young to understand. But I’m older now, and I have many questions that only Din Djarin can answer… when I find him.” - unknown Mandalorian.

In April of 2022 I finally got around to doing my first fully finished “Operator” helmet with MHAS range finder. The helmet itself is made from resin that’s infused with aluminum powder. The damage you see on the main helmet isn’t painted on, but a result of the paint job being physically scraped off to reveal a realistic metallic surface underneath. The range finder has an aluminum stalk, but the other parts are made from plastic and resin.

If you’re interested in how I do these kinds of textured paint jobs check out the YouTube video explaining the process here.

Thanks for looking!
