SWTOR Shae Vizla Bounty Hunter Belt Pouches

Untitled 21

I forgot to take screenshots throughout the various stages of modelling of the pouches, but getting them done was a fairly simple, straightforward process.

After 4 hours and 50 minutes, the pouches were printed. Unlike the other parts in the Exalted build, the pouches will not have to be smoothed out prior to molding; the 3D printed striation actually gives the appearance of fabric strands, which is exactly the effect needed for these pieces.

Next, I then used some clear containers, and set up the masters for molding. I coated everything with Super Seal, let sit for 30 minutes, and followed by a spray of mold release.

The master was then set up for molding inside an empty "Dessert Whip" container.

NOTE: When molding hollow 3D printed parts, it’s important to fasten the masters down, or they WILL float up to the surface when silicone is poured!

I roughed up the contact surfaces with sand paper, and superglued the model to the bottom of the container.

I then whipped up some Mold Star 15 silicone (1A: 1B ratio), and poured it in. I put all my silicone molds on top of the dryer; the shaking helps work any bubbles out to the surface.

Several hours later, I peeled the master out of the mold, which revealed a perfect print coat!

I then cast the pouches in black Onyx resin, and since I wanted the 3D printed striation to be visible (to give the look of real nylon strands), I did not have to clean up the casts at all.

Here is what the pouches look like attached to the belt.
